Open thread: everyone sing along now!

So, on the mailing list all the GF bloggers use, we’ve been saying “who’s going to do the open thread?” for days now and nobody’s done it. I said if nobody stepped up, I’d post this:

I guess it goes without saying that nobody else posted the open thread, huh?

If you’re reading this Monday morning at the office, you might want to use headphones. Visuals are SFW though.

I dare you not to sing along or get earwormed. Personally, I think it’s the 21st century answer to Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman.

Anyway, when you’re done with the ‘tubes, tell us what else is on your mind! Open threads are when you can revisit old topics, bring up new ones, or say whatever the hell you want.

Since you’ve opened this up with Music, I’m going to add one of the subject of one of the best undergrad feminist paper’s I ever read.

It was using the feminist lense on Deirdre Flint’s The Bridesmaid Dress Song.

1:00 ish clip of the song

I said if nobody stepped up, I’d post this

Which I, and possibly others, considered to be more of a promise than a threat.

I just created a Firefox Search Engine Plugin for Geek :)

    Plugin is located here:

Mycroft was very very easy to use and I encourage all your readers to check it out and try creating their own search plugins :)

Please excuse the favicon icon, but I couldn’t find a pre-exsisting one for the site.

I am all a-squee as this is the first browser development I have ever done – all inspired by . I just wanted quicker way to search the site !

    Hi Geek Feminists!

I hope it’s not too tacky to contact you in the open forum, but some of my colleagues at Bitch ( and I are fans of yours, and we are also looking for a temporary guest blogger(s) to write for us about feminism and geek culture (or related topics). Would any of you be interested? If so, email me: kelsey(at) Thanks so much!
